Hockey Post: Update and Pray

I Must Be Freakin' Psychic

In a letter this morning to Mark Cisik (I think I start a lot of my mornings with letters to Mark now-a-days), I mentioned briefly that a Richards/Briere line matched up against Crosby/Malkin would be a fantastic line.

Then at 5:30PM or so, I checked Scott Hartnell's blog, and found this fantastic little tidbit of information: "Today we made some changes for practice this morning, and I was on a line with Mike Richards and Danny Briere." Fantastic. It's like Stevens was reading my mind.

“The mood is pretty good here. For being down 3-0, it’s better than I thought it would be,” said RJ. “I think we’re just focused on one more game and I think we can get back into this series.” [Flyers.NHL.com]

One Game at a Time is our new motto, replacing the suddenly not-so-fitting "Why Not Us?" Perhaps this little cliche will turn the tide?

If the boys can follow it.

“You can't win four games tomorrow night,” cautioned Richards. “You've got to take it a game at a time. We've won four games in a row in the playoffs against a really good Montreal team, so I think we've got to draw from that.” [Flyers.NHL.com]

"Richards centered Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell, while Vaclav Prospal was with Umberger and Mike Knuble." The way it should have been since the first loss in Pittsburgh.

So what about Coburn?

“We’ll see what happens tomorrow and see how I feel. I had a good workout there today,” Coburn said after practice. “[My eye] started to open up a bit late last night after I was icing it. This morning, it opened up a little bit more.”

“I think it will be one of those things where we have to wait till tomorrow and see how he feels after being on the ice today and see how he progresses,” said Stevens. “He's still up in the air right now.”

Good luck, boys, in Game 4. You need it, just like you need Timmo.

“It's bound to turn around. That's the way I see it,” said Briere. “For us, it's about winning the next game. That's all it is. Then we'll go from there.”

A note for Flyers fans planning on going to the game: "The crowd has been behind us the whole year long and we were fired up at the start last night, which made it all the more frustrating when people were leaving early because we were down 4-1. We definitely want the crowd to just be themselves again tomorrow night because there’s no question we feed off of that energy and that awesome atmosphere." -Scott Hartnell
