Literally; I Hate the Shark. A Lot.
The Shark Pattern kicked my ass.
Other then the Masters' shot, the Shark is the hardest pattern I'll ever have to bowl on. It was nearly impossible to get set up on (there was so much oil, everywhere!), and once I was setup, my room for error was tiny. The only people who played it well were the high rev kids; people who stand out all the way to the left and swing it out to the gutter and back.
I, on the other hand, have a slow ball and low revs, and I ended up throwing almost straight up the second and praying. If I hit the oil, it rolled out before it even got started, splashing into the six pin with all the force of a wet noodle. If I pulled it a little bit inside, it sailed into the headpin, which usually left me a mess.
However, considering, I don't think I did too badly. I had two 120s and a 196, but I feel like I bowled better then my score. I left so many damned splits though, it was hard to keep my score higher. Ahh well.
The two kids we bowled this evening had high revs and sanded balls, and both played fairly well. Brian and I, who both throw soft shots with little hook, were struggling to get anything.
I'm looking forward to the Chameleon Pattern next week, which is a little more suited to our style.
