Tomorrow Night's Game; For Better or for Worse
Now, I'm no professional hockey analyst; I don't pretend to be. However, I think every Flyers fan is out there, making mention of what they would do in John Stevens' shoes; how do you juggle the lines with Timmo's injury?
With Richards and Briere on the same line, surrounded by three big, defensive-minded men, lined up with Malkin and Crosby's line? I think that having the two best puck-handlers on a line together has worked very well for the Pens, and could work for us. The lines right now are mix-and-match. To be truthful, I think if you put Carter and Umberger together, they could hit it off far better then Carter and Briere seem to be doing at the moment. Richards deserves as much ice time as he can stand. I don't know much about putting lines together, but then again, neither does Stevens, it seems.
The chemistry that has been there disintegrated with the loss of Timmo. Which I find extremely strange; he's only one player from one line. Or was it more than that?
"Timonen’s skills and leadership have been evident throughout the Flyers’ impressive playoff run thus far, but they will now have to deal with his loss," (for NHL.com).
“We feel like we've battled through adversity all year long,” Briere said, about the loss of Timmo. “Yes, Kimmo is a big part of our team, but at the same time we've been faced with those situations before... We’ve found ways to pull through, to come together.”
We can hope.
