Bowling Post: Pin Dropping

A Brand New Ball for a Brand New Season

To be truthful, I haven't bowled in a league since 2006, and jumping right into a Sport Shot league, with a Scorpion pattern on Synthetic is probably not the best of ideas, but I'm going to try it anyway.

Storm was having a showing at Northside Lanes near my house, so I went down to test some bowling balls. It was so funny; I was the only girl there, and probably the youngest one there as well. The guy looked at me funny, and told me the only balls I could throw were 15 pounds, and he didn't believe me when I said it was fine. All the other guys around were laughing a little as I stepped up to the approach to bowl, but they stopped laughing when I managed a few strikes in a row and some nice rotation on a ball that didn't properly fit my hand and was a pound too heavy.

I fell in love with the Roto Grip Cell (Rotos are made by Storm, but don't have the Storm smell to them, thankfully). It's a high hook ball, and works beautifully with my game on a house shot. I may not be able to use it on the sports shot, but we'll see. I may play down-and-in, throwing it out to the gutter and back if I can keep my shot consistant. Like I said, it's been a long time since I bowled, but I'm hoping my shot is still what it once was.

Last league I bowled in, I averaged about 190 or so; I doubt I'll be able to keep that average on a sports shot. Perhaps I'll get lucky. Haha.

Although I love my ying-yang plastic spare ball, I'm thinking I might try to drive up to Philly and see if they have NHL bowling balls. That would rock so hard, to have a Flyers logo really big on a spare ball.

Heading soon to the bowling alley,
Mina
